Ondas

I have an ongoing relationship between the two cities of London and Barcelona.  This piece tells a story of healing and restoration after loss and focuses on finding family, and belonging, holding onto and rediscovering what’s important when it’s hard to focus.

This piece is about my network of care / communication between cities. 

Sometimes i need to have a fiery, gentle, reflective conversation with my close friends in Spanish / Catalan, because they are languages i feel real in and feel safe in, untangle myself from rules, ruminations, timekeeping, obsessions and insecurities.

Jasmine Kahlia is an acclaimed Audiovisual Artist and Outstanding Creative Practitioner, with work showcased regionally in the UK, and internationally in Spain, Germany and USA. She spends time living between London and Barcelona, where her family’s based.

She is a specialist in Live Looping and Beatboxing. This piece was a one take recording which she often does in her live sets. She doesn’t use a lot of social media or have a lot of music online so encourages you to come to her live shows where you can.  She is also a specialist in zines, having written literature pieces in English, Catalan and Spanish.

Jasmine Kahlia has contributed significantly to the UK Arts Sector since 2016 in many capacities and has been platformed by some of the largest arts institutions across Europe.
