Somatic Healing: Therapeutic Touch for Healing Trauma

8 June 2022

About the event

Join us for Somatic Healing: Therapeutic Touch for Healing Trauma held by Maira Holzmann. In this session, participants will gain a basic understanding of trauma; how it embeds itself in the body; and how relationships, communities and systems contribute to a lack of safety in a person’s nervous system. Maira will explore the power of somatic healing, nervous system regulation, and the practice of Therapeutic Touch.

This session will outline essential practices and principles of somatic healing, establishing a safe and healthy portal into our bodies and exploring how to use our bodies as allies in the healing process. We will learn about the strong physiological positive consequences of receiving pleasant and resonant touch, what a healthy nervous system is, and what non sexual, healthy, loving, safe enough touch looks like.

Guided by the principle that we can use the body’s wisdom to overcome trauma, attendees will learn practical, simple, easy to do skills that can help our nervous systems come back into regulation, as well as how to apply Therapeutic Touch to oneself or others who may be needing support in their healing journey.

The session will be structured as a conversation with Maira who will be sharing practical techniques. This will be followed by a Q+A, where attendees will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. We may record part of the session for folks who are unable to attend live.
